A 5-band equalizer "stretches out" the bass and treble controls found on amplifiers allowing for more precise tone control. It is used mostly for trimming-out home audio sources. For recording and mixing, a full 20- or 30-band EQ is usually used - but these are not handy for home stereo listening. Five controls are practical for adjusting listening preferences, 20 controls are not. The EQ5 only works if it is powered, such that a power adapter would make sense to include.

Nice "retro" look to this little EQ. I have only used this with headphones, but it sounds good, and works well. Runs on 5V so can be used with a power bank. The controls are smooth and have good effect. RCA or 3.5mm in/outs give options.

What a SURPRISE!
There are no cons! Only thing I would ask is that a these come with 4 little rubber adhesive non-slip discs on the bottom of the unit to prevent it slipping and becoming scratched. This is one AMAZING sounding tiny little box of awesome. It was made with love and precision and to listen to it enhance your audio is a pure pleasure. It has crystal clarity and remarkably warm character not found anywhere in home audio hardware since the component system slider equalizers of yesteryear (of which I own many BTW). The tone controls are responsive, accurate, and well defined. The potentiometer knobs are high-quality and give just the right resistance when turned. At only 5 watts consumption it leaves a miscroscopic power draw footprint and placement is free and easy with the proper length usb-c ... There are no cons!
