This phone is a replacement for mine, which went into the sink. Good phone for a good price. Nice size, light weight, good size screen, camera takes great pictures. Mainly use phone for calling, texting, camera, GPS, and browsing. Not big into games or videos. I travel for work and I have gotten good reception, even in the mountains. The battery life is average, I have not been able to find a phone with an exceptional battery life.
Phone is awesome. It´s powerful, discreet and get the job done in any situation. I chose Atrix 2 because I´ve always had Motorola since 2000, it´s been 12 years. The only thing that bothers me and many others over the world is the WIFI issue. WIFI disconnects suddenly for no reason all the time. We hope they launch an upgrade to fix it. It´s not our router, IT´S THE PHONE! All other wireless devices work perfectly. Other than that, I highly recommend this phone for those who like playing games, work, GPS is great and connects faster than Atrix 4g, battery life is above average in my opinion. It all depends on how you use the phone. Compare to other phones, it´s all about your needs. I don´t need any fancy, white apple restricted source phone. I need an open source OS to whatever I want.
This review is for an unlocked AT&T Motorola Atrix 2 MB865 running Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0.4) and the latest software version (v55.13.25). I purchased this phone for use with a StraightTalk SIM in the Greater LA area. Had used the ST SIM with an iPhone 3GS previously, which I used with Square to accept credit card payments. I thought I'd try the Motorola because the 3GS has spotty reception at one of our best Farmer's Markets. So, after trying to work with the Motorola Atrix 2, I can tell you that I'm going back to the 3GS. Aesthetically, the Atrix is wonderful. Feels good, looks good, and it has an exceptionally fast download time....when it connects. And there's the problem. While the 3GS connects via tower for data (maps, internet, Square server) 99% of the time, the Atrix hardly ever connects, severely compromising its usefulness for me. Even stranger, while it may connect today, I can stand in the exact same spot tomorrow and fail to get a connection. Now, if you don't need a tower connection (e.g. you can just use WiFi) then this particular Atrix issue disappears. Unfortunately, however, that's insufficient for me as, more often than not, I need to access data via tower. Bottom line, the phone is very handsome and, in the right circumstances, a fantastic device. I would love for it to work for me but its unstable behavior makes it too troublesome for me to tolerate. Even though the 3GS isn't flawless and somewhat slow, it's certainly less temperamental, making it a better choice for me.Read full review
Well this cellphone is pretty good. If you are looking for a cellphone affordable, lasting and good features, this one is definitely among the top 3. I've been using it for a couple of months and everything is fine. It's had some freezing issues especially when is about to run out of memory but I think it's normal so there's nothing to worry about on that. The camera is pretty good as well. One thing I didn't like about it was I couldn't take a picture o record a video without inserting a SD Card although it comes with more than 5Gb available for the user internally but this is one limitation from the manufacturer I guess.
I purchased this phone because the phone I was using, a really "good, new, high price" phone, had such bad reception. When my husband got his last upgrade, he purchased one of these phones, because we had previously always had good service with Motorola, so thought it was worth trying. Immediately, we saw that it had much better service than mine...but the day we were in the car and I went to make a call on mine and had 0 service, and he had 4 bars, same provider, I decided it was time to make the change!!! We live in a very rural area, and recently, we had some severe storms go through taking out 2 towers completely, and damaging another. My neighbor had no service on her phone. I didn't have "as good"...like 2 bars, but was totally able to make calls...SOOO...if you want a phone with good reception...you should really consider this one... ANOTHER thing I love...the camera has a really good flash...so you can actually get a decent picture with your phone inside!!! The other features of the phone are as good if not better than any other smart phone I've had, no complaints so far...however, my biggest love of the phone is simply the great reception, and after all, isn't that the main reason we have a phone??? ;o)Read full review
This is an absolutely amazing phone. The dual-core processor makes this ATRIX 2 very fast and responsive. 3D games work great on the huge beautiful screen. Using speed test I tested the network speeds using both WIFI and ATTs' Faux 4G. Both speeds were phenomenal - 15 Mbps over Wifi and 3.5 over "4G". The camera is pretty decent but like most phones it has trouble capturing images in a low-light setting. For the price, the phone is definitely worth it whether you get it on or off contract (at $100 this phone is a steal, but even at ~$300 off contract its cheaper than most phones in its class) I also bought the extended battery so I cannot comment on the regular battery life, but my phone lasts around 2 days. I really recommend getting the extended battery even though it makes the phone bigger and heavier. Some people don't like the Motorola skin "motoblur," I actually dont mind it, they really stepped it up from the orginal Atrix. I really dont have much negative to say about this phone, I hope other people enjoy it as much as I do!Read full review
This is a very good phone. If I wasn't smartphone challenged, I would probably love it. The price was very reasonable. I liked the size. It was a little larger than I like as a female. I don't like carrying a small tablet in my pocket. But it is a decent size. I also have the Atrix HD. I like the Atrix 2 better. I know I haven't fully utilized all the functions on the phone. But what I did use was great.
For the money, this is a pretty good deal. The screen is very nice, plenty bright and clear, and the size nice. It is a little heavy when carrying in the pocket - not as light as some of the newer large screen phones from Samsung and HTC. The scree is responsive and the phone just works when you need it too. Battery life could be better but isn't terrible for such a large screen. Overall, I am pretty happy with the phone. If you want a phone without a contract, this is a great choice for the money in 2012.
This is a very nice dual core phone. Great hardware on the device like the processor, camera, RAM. But the software department is where this phone loses out. The UI was not as great as expected. The camera app didn't do justice to the camera, photos weren't good at all. The phone's built was good though, nice feel while holding it in the hand. The call quality was another let down. Volumes weren't loud enough. But for the price this is a great phone and if you look past a few hiccups you should be good.
I absolutely love this phone!! It is very user friendly. I love that you can customize everything about the phone from widgets, to wallpapers, to sreensavers, etc... If the phone doesn't have a feauture that you want, it's true what they say "There's an app for that"!! i.e. At night when trying to watch a movie on Netflix on this phone, I couldn't find a setting to turn off the soft keys back lighting (the menu, home, back and search lights on the bottom). I went on the market and found a screen filter that does the trick!! Anyway, for the price, I think Motorola has it down!! I think it's great the phone itself has 8gb of membory, but yet you can install a 32 gb micro SD card to give it 40 gb of memory!! Can you do that w/ an iPhone? Also, to me the battery life seems decent compared to other smart phones. I am able to watch almost 2 full movies through Netflix on one battery charge, on my last phone I couldn't even watch one full movie w/out the battery going dead. The phone itself is very sleek, thin and light, not bulky like some other phones. When listening to music or movies through headphones, the sound is amazing!! I would say my only complaint about the phone so far is that it doesn't come w/ the animated clock/weather widget that the HTC phones have, but again, I did find an app on the market that is very comparable and is actually more customizable than the HTC one.Read full review
