Although my particular copy of the TP-LINK Archer C7 router has all the fancy features of new 2105-year/era routers, the sole purpose I bought this unit was to increase the signal coverage of the wifi hotspot on my property. (In 2014, I purchased an excellent D-Link DIR-615 wifi router on eBay and love its performance, but the only problem was that I required an additional 50 feet (15m) extended-range, and supposedly this particular Archer C7 router has above-average signal range per online computer magazines. Not so! Compared to my D-Link DIR 615, this Archer C7 has WORSE signal range despite its three fancy-looking antennas! Simply awful range. I had to resort back to my nice dependable D-Link DIR-615 router. I was so fed-up with this unit which was also quite problematic to set-up compared to my EASY to set-up D-Link DIR-615 router! Firstly, the enclosed CD is a small one that will not work with my side-loading (slot) drive on my iMac, so I had to resort to using my backup computer - a nice Lenovo ThinkPad tablet with Win 8.1 on it (also purchased on eBay), It turns out the Win 8.1 tablet would not configure the router (unlike the excellent D-Link router) via the Win 8.1 Networking set-up wizard - just stalled out. So I then resorted to the Archer website, which, after three attempts, I was able to change the Archer C7 password, but as soon as I did, the router cut-out and I lost the wifi connection to the Archer website. This was after two previous attempts to attempt set-up. As such, not very user friendly set-up compared to my very fine D-Link DIR 615. I ALMOST threw out this router into the street outside, hoping I would satisfactorily smash it to smithereens, but I controlled myself and packed it back up into its box and tossed it into my IT devices storage closet, only to use as a back-up router in case my D-Link quits. Wasted $80.00 and a LOT of TIME. So I would recommend buying the D-Link DIR-615 router here on eBay, but never, ever this Archer C7. Period! VERY POOR SIGNAL RANGE, except the three antennas on this router are removable, and the thing does have three SMA female antenna jacks which would accomodate external/outdoor wifi antennas, so perhaps that is its sole advantage, but I never tried that option, being that I do not have an outdoor wifi antenna to try this out. Three times the price of similar performing routers! A lesson learned...Read full review

This router is very good on providing wifi connections. My previous router (D-Link 1000) has been used for about 5 years which gradually lost its function. This one was functioning very well. The instruction was not very clear though. However the TP-Link customer service provided very good instruction and helped me to get it connected over the phone.

Picked up this model tp link router and was disappointed with the unit. The WiFi radio seemed to be a fair amout weaker than an average router, even cheap ones from Walmart. I flashed with dd-wrt firmware, only to find out that tye chipset (Arethos, I think) doesnt allow the unit to function as a repeater bridge, which is the soke purpose for me buying thebubit and flashing with open source firmware. So back in the box it went, and eventually made it to my mothers house, where she uses it today as a standalone router on a very basic home network. I boughr an Asus router with Broadcom chipset, flashed ddwrt, and all is well in my world again. But I was very disapppinted in the Tp Link router given its price and reviews

I was a little reluctant to get the TP-LINK as I had never heard of them. Did some searching and found out they are not a bad product. I needed something that could handle several devices at same time and cov er a large home. This fills the bill. Netflix never hesitates and streams very fast even when wife and kids are on their tablets. It's nice and flat so it's not obtrusive. Has a few flashing lights, but they are not bright so as to not fill your room with unwanted light. This is a great router don't think twice about it just buy it!!!

I got a 2400 Sq ft home and the router is located to one side of the house but it has no problems broadcasting for the entire house to receive signal. No cons so far...
