  • 2012 - Day after Tomorrow on Steroids !!

EOTW (End of the World) movies have come a long way since On The Beach by Neville Shute. I thoroughly enjoyed Day After Tomorrow (DAT) and 2012 was done by, basically, the same people which prompted me to buy it. While the personal drama between the characters is not as deep or as complex as that developed in DAT, the special effects more than compensate for this loss.I DO wish they had included English subtitles for the dialog that took place in Chinese, Indian and and a couple of other languages. Also, unlike DAT the science involved was somewhat more sketchy - connate water, for example, would NOT be clear and pretty as the stuff seen bubbling in the capped well at the bottom of the mine in India was. The geology crowd must have been laughing their butts off. One a more cosmic sense the ...

  • End of the world epic...again..

I do enjoy a good "end of the world" film. Saw this one in the theater and I was actually impressed. Special effects are outstanding. Woody Harrelson ..again...adds a lot to this movie. I watched this on dvd recently with friends - here's what they thought: A bit 'long winded' on the science aspect -lost interest until the destruction began. It's almost too long, and becomes repetitive in plot. It's like watching "Day After Tomorrow" and "Independence Day" but with different characters, and a volcano. *Spoiler Alert* ......You have been warned.... The end was less than impressive to all of us. You get through some horrible events, and in the end...no one seems to care too much about the fact that the entire planet is practically wiped out, everything and everyone else is gone and/or ...

  • Splendid Story You Cared About In This Apocalyptic Film

The film starts in the then present year 2009. American geologist Adrian Helmsley (Chiwetel Ejiofor) travels to India to meet his friend Satnam, who has discovered that neutrinos from a massive solar flare have penetrated the Earth and are causing the temperature of earth's core to increase rapidly. Adrian returns to Washington D.C. to inform White House Chief of Staff Carl Anheuser (Oliver Platt) and US President Thomas Wilson (Danny Glover) that this will soon culminate in a chain of events that will bring mass destruction to the earth's crust, which, in turn will snuff out man completely. After attending the 36th G8 summit in 2010, other heads of state and heads of government are made aware of the situation. They collaborate on their efforts on a secret project intended to ensure the ...

  • Its the End of the World

John Cusack and Amanda Peet star in this End of the World thriller. As predicted by the Mayan Calendar, a series of events will take place on 12-21-12 that lead to the destruction of the earth. This movie is about the lives of those who will make it and those who will not. The acting is pretty good and the movie does a very good job of handling the lives of all those involved. The only down side is some of the special effects could have been a little better (Not a lot) there are a few things that take place that are just to much beyond belief. It is an excellent movie that really does show a way that the world could end. Get this one for your library.
