    For manual but works for auto with mods.

    It turns out there are different parts depending if you have a manual or auto. This part is intended for a manual so it doesn't fit an auto car as it comes. However, with some slight modification it works just fine and the end result is much better fit than the correct auto part. I ordered the wrong one and am glad I did.

    More cheaply made than my OEM...no inner tray protective coating

    This product is not a carbon copy of the original OEM 97' BMW 540i armrest insert tray..It has 2 additional (making a total of 4) side extensions that interfere with installing and positioning the tray into the armrest center opening...My original OEM tray has only 2 extensions. All other dimensions are the same but the 2 extra extensions make correct positioning on the original OEM armrest virtually impossible. Also, the original tray cup was coated with a protective coating that deteriorated over time but helped protect the plastic surface from had items such as keys, etc. The purchased part is sturdy plastic but the inside of the tray is subject to easy scratching from keys or metal items. WAY TOO EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT IT IS!!! My OEM Part# is: 8 219-165 VAP AABS TEU85A (see ...
