This is a great recording! Everybody is signing in tune and the energy is high! Early recording of Terrapin Station is a good baseline for what would be dramatic highlight of later Dead shows. Very happy to own this one!

OK, So best show ever is very subjective. To me this is the best recording I have ever heard in terms of sound quality AND the band was smoking hot! Too many Deadhead's the best show ever was a few weeks earlier at Cornell University. I own this show as well and although it is quite stellar (to me) it doesn't match the intensity of the Hartford show. I might be a little biased because I live an hour away from the Hartford Civic Center and saw many a great Dead show there! Buy this, listen, and you be your own judge as to where this show stands in the incredible Dead Archive History. How can you go wrong? This was the last show of the 1977 Spring tour so maybe that added a little something to the band that night!

We absolutely love this GD cd! A great concert! This used cd was in excellent condition. I made the right choice in deciding not to buy expensive new cd.

The sound quality is outstanding and the set-list choice was one of my all-time Dead favorites. Tennessee Jed is one of my favorite Dead tunes and I absolutely love the almost 10 minute version ending Disk 2. Out of all of the more recent releases of the archival shows that have been put out for old Deadheads to "consume" this show is by far my favorite. Check it out if your a fan or not because the music is timeless and you don't really need to own all of the music or really know much about this history making band to enjoy this smokin' 3 cd set, all you need to do is sit back and relax and take it all in, to describe this set in two words...simply...It jams!
It's the Dead in '77. What more does life need? Decent price for an out of print show. And it got here really fast.

This year marked 12 years for the Dead, this was the first year I saw them live. I saw them do Terrapin station and this version brings back fond memories of that concert, I have seen the Dead 7 times, since this concert, when I was 19. This also has Donna and Keith with her powerful backup vocals and Keith jamming on the keyboards, Jerry gets the band cooking on Sugaree also it was nice to hear a dynamite version of Row Jimmy and Terrapin Station over all this is an excellent recording of an ass kicker!!!
Wow this is such an awsome show. Even though they had some feedback issues throughout the show which is good because it shows they where really on and feeling it. The Bertha opener Really set the show in motion Jerry sang it with heart. The 19 min Surgee was just mind blowing. This Surgee is number one on my list of all the Surgee performenaces I have listen to and own. I wish I was old enough to have been at that show personally. I enjoyed the Samon and Delilah as well and it was great to be listening to it on Sunday giving it even more meaning. The third set was really high energy Terrapin Drums Not Fade for me was spectacular. If you don't have this show shame on you it is a must have for any DeadHead Collection. You will enjoy this show.
The May 28, 1977, show at the Hartford Coliseum culminated the Dead's spring tour--a tour that saw them hitting the road fresh off of rehearsing and recording Terrapin Station. Not surprisingly, they sound invigorated and, for a change, play in tune and tightly throughout the set. Wonderful renditions of "Sugaree" and "Jack Straw" as well as clean and polished renditions of all their Terrapin Station material. Amazing how just a little preparation and practice can make even the world's most spontaneous jam band sound all that much better.
Very good concert and enjoyable setlist.
