More cores running at higher frequencies result in an increased ability to handle high workloads. The base speed of the CPU is enhanced by the inclusion of Intel's proprietary Turbo Boost Technology. This feature provides the cores with an extra burst of speed when necessary. This ability comes in handy for many applications and devices, including desktops, servers, and mobile tools. In addition to this, the Intel Core processor has 6MB of SmartCache directly on it. This allows for extra-fast access for use with read and write operations and results in measurably faster performance.     Got more than I needed. Installation was quick. Used existing fan. Enclosed fan and brackets are huge and don't need them. CPU runs around 50 degree centigrade, well in bounds of safe usage. Upgraded from a 3.1 to this 3.4 and computer is 50% better all around.
