Yeah, "OK" AND .....
The pot is "OK"; made be the big name to FENDER's specs. FENDER adds value by including a treble bleed cap. Great! That being said, the pot was tight, and needed to be "sprayed out" before it turned the way I find acceptable. No where in the description, or on the packaging, does it say if the pot is Audio, or Log taper. I guess if it says "FENDER" then we know it's whatever they use. What do they use, anyway? The buyer is actually paying for two "names" here, as well. I ended up deciding to use EMERSON pots. A little better on the $. No spraying needed; turned really nice "right out of the box"; real great feel, very smooth and easy, much better than the FENDER. A little expensive, but a good pot - when it's actually up to spec
These aftermarket Fender pots are not the same ones that come stock in Fender strats. They're taller in profile (though washers to use as spacers are included, to adjust the installation height as needed), and have a much higher turning friction than stock pots in Fender strats. As I've said, these pots are high friction (meaning they take more effort to turn than some other pots, including the ones that come stock in a Fender guitar), which some people like, and others might not. On a friction scale of 1 to 10, the stock pots that come in Fender strats are like a 1.5, while these aftermarket Fender pots are like an 8.5. Another brand, WD Music pots, are like a 6. These pots (like many other brands), while listed as 500k, vary in their actual spec. And so, I think it's a good idea to ... These aftermarket Fender pots are not the same ones that come stock in Fender strats. And so, I think it's a good idea to measure the resistance between the 1st and 3rd contacts of each pot with a digital multi meter before installing it into your guitar, to make sure it's suitable. After buying 8 of these Fender pots, I found that 4 of them were significantly under spec (all the way down to 415k), while the other 4 were slightly above spec (from 508k to 526k). The purpose of installing a 500k pot in your guitar to brighten the tone is somewhat defeated when the pot you're installing is actually only 415k. I think that these pots have a bit of premium cost to them just because of the Fender name, but that there's no special mojo in what the pots deliver - unless the very high turn friction is something that you're looking for. Because the actual specs of these pots (and also with many other pot brands) are unpredictable, I recommend buying them from a place where you know you can return them if they're under spec.

Do not buy this if you intend on putting a knob on this. I have almost any kind of guitar knob including real Fender knobs.....none fit this thing!
