Still too many parts and pieces
I have several 1/25 scale Chevy Del Ray models in completed form. The earlier ones had opening doors, trunk lid, and hood, while the later ones just have an opening hood. I view this as a positive thing since too many moving parts make it difficult to get the model to sit right and not have one door or other come loose. Nevertheless, there are still too many parts in this model kit for my taste. In contrast to the 2DR-HT model, in 1/24 scale, the latest Del Ray model still has about a dozen component parts for what we call the "interior tub." The 1/24 hardtop model uses one piece, plus the dash and steering column, and is a lot easier to work with. Some modelers like all this extra work but I don't, particularly when there's so much to do with getting the glass mounted, the paint finished, the undercarriage in order, wheels and tires, etc. I just wish Revell/Monogram would make the Del Ray kit less burdensome and have the interior tub be one piece as in the hardtop kit. Still further, the exhaust and muffler system could be made part of the chassis, as in the hardtop kit, rather than have separate pieces that need to be painted, arranged to fit, and glued in place. The hardtop kit has most of the muffler and exhaust system as part of the chassis molding. The Del Ray kit should be revised accordingly.Verified purchase: YesCondition: Pre-owned
