    Well worth the money for parts alone.

    I purchased this for the parts of the locomotive to use on others in my collection or to shore up my parts supply. I found that the wheels, gears and motor actually run. the e-unit changes direction and the smoke unit actually makes good smoke. The boiler casting cleaned up very nicely. I knew there were too many parts missing to have it be a usable piece, but it still might go that way.

    Disappointing items not worth it

    Engine missing both sliding shoe power contacts. Tender missing knuckle on rear coupler. Tender front had a broken out front cavity. Tender had a bent backwards pull tab that connects to the engine. Items were supposedly tested as ok but since there were no engine power contacts, how could that have been possible? My repair person said there was too much needed to be done to make the items functional. Also too expensive.

    A Bit of Lionel History

    This model 2026 is the first affordable smoker that was available from the famed Lionel Postwar Era. The diecast metal body is durable; the modeling authentic; the construction everlasting, and the ease of tuning it up terrific. I wanted this particular unit because it was created at the same time I was. I wanted to tune it, clean it up, and give it to my child in hopes it has a long life running around the tree in December.
