The Sony MDR-ZX110NC over the ear noise canceling headphones are designed with comfort and convenience as top priorities. These headphones can effectively cancel out as much as 95% of the ambient noise that surrounds the listener. By analyzing background sounds and filtering them out seamlessly at the flip of a switch, these studio accessories can make it easier to focus all of your attention on the most important sounds. In addition to their noise-canceling abilities, they can provide excellent sound reproduction for your favorite musical tunes. They are constructed with lightweight materials and feature dynamic 1.18 drivers and a long Y shaped cord that measures just under 4 feet. This comfortable headset has an effective circuit design that uses a small microphone to detect the noise coming in and then emit a canceling signal to provide optimal clarity for the sounds you want to hear most. They are very effective in many kinds of different situations. Using them when traveling or studying can make it easier to tune out surrounding chatter. The Sony MDR-ZX110NC noise canceling headphones have a quick fold design, which allows them to rotate, lie flat, and be extremely portable. They utilize Neodymium magnets to deliver up to 300 kilojoules per cubic meter, which helps provide excellent bass, mid, and treble frequency response. You can get a balanced, tone rich sound with these audio accessories. There is a power switch on the side of the headphones that activates the battery circuit to drive the noise-canceling process; however, even when powered off they still function as regular headphones with over ear noise isolation. The noise cancelling functions of this headset are powered by a single AAA battery. Depending on the type used, the function can have a lifespan ranging from 40 to 80 hours of continued use. The indicator light will blink or go off if it needs to be replaced. To change the battery, simply open the side compartment for quick access. These dynamic cancellation earphones have a 30 millimeter, dome type driver unit. At 1 kHz they have an impedance of 220 ohms when powered on and 45 ohms when powered off. They have a power handling capacity of 40 milliwatts with a full frequency response ranging from 10 Hz to 22 kHz. They can suppress approximately 13 decibels of noise when activated. This headset has a standard auxiliary input jack in addition to a double jack attachment that works for airplanes.     Great for the price

    The sound quality is much better than you would expect from low priced headsets. The fit is pretty good but would be more comfortable with softer ear cushions. The noise reduction is moderate, only affecting lower frequency sounds. Battery life is quite good, but getting the battery cover off is a bit difficult. The on-off switch is flush-mounted on one of the earpieces and can be hard to find by feel while wearing the headset. Despite these minor shortcomings, if you can find this under $20 it is quite a good headset for the price

    False Advertising

    No Microphone: Product labeled for cellular/mobile use and claims to have a built in microphone. It does not record audio. This will not make your cell phone hands-free, you will have to hold your phone's microphone up to your mouth. I knew as soon as I noticed it doesn't have the appropriate jack. Sound Quality: The sound quality is great with the bass boost turned on. I was incredibly disappointed at first, the sound quality is really terrible without the switch turned on. I would hate to have my battery die. Package says 40 hours on a single AAA but I wouldn't trust it. It muffles background noise but I wouldn't call it "noise cancelling." Comfort: There is no padding on the top, just hard plastic. The adjusters have plastic bumps, so it is not smooth on the top whatsoever. ...

    Good Value

    I've used these headphones for a couple weeks and I find them comfortable. They fit well and have good sound. I have only used the noise cancelling to test it as I have no need for this feature. I find the wires are a bit light duty but with a little care they should last a while. I think it is a good value. I will be buying another set for my winter home.

    Sure a pair of Boses is better, but then ....

    I have owned a variety of noise cancelling headphones to use on trips, the most expensive of which was a pair of Sennheisers that I either lost or were "confiscated" by airport security in, I think, Germany. Thereafter, I now how two pairs of Sonys. This pair is a newer version. The main benefit is a noise reduction of 95% (or 13 dB). That's for the kind of noise found in an aircraft cabin. This makes a real difference for enjoying music or movies. The headphones do not completely fit over my ears - you need a pair with very large surrounding cushions for that (like ear protectors). At the price I bought on EBay, these are a good buy. Be sure to take the two-plug adapter with you; airlines seem to be reverting to that instead of the single plug format, probably to deter theft of ...

    Product is good but not what was expected.

    Product is described as “ over the ear” or cupping style when in fact is “on ear” type which actually fits outside on top of the ear. Does not filter outside noise as over the ear covering the entire outside of the ear. Also does not say they are battery operated which was a surprise as well, inconvenient to have to turn the switch on and off before and after use.
