Product Information

The first CD in this dual disc compilation contains both the original X-COM title, UFO Defense, and its sequel, Terror From the Deep. The two games are similar in every way except one: the former takes place entirely on land and the battles of the second are mostly fought deep beneath Earth's oceans and seas.<br><br>The VGA graphics were state-of-the art in their time. UFO Defense was applauded by critics for its spine tingling ambiance and clever mesh of strategic base management and tactical combat. Terror From the Deep didn't satisfy critics as much, however; the main complaint centered on the lack of additional gameplay to the overall formula.<br><br>Each of these games appears in its original form in X-COM Collector's Edition, except the DOS real-mode sound setups have been replaced by a Windows 9x-friendly component. <br><br>The second CD contains the third title in the series, X-COM: Apocalypse. This game is built around a brand-new engine that incorporates snappy SVGA graphics and real-time combat. A less demanding turn-based mode, which makes engagements in Apocalypse similar to the first two titles, is also included.
