About this product

Product Information

The eighth and final installment in Ric Burns' acclaimed NEW YORK series uses the birth of the World Trade Center to perfectly illustrate America's increasing power and influence--economically as well as politically--over the entire world in the latter half of the twentieth century. Using archival footage and interviews with key figures in the progress of New York City--including former mayors Mario Cuomo, Ed Koch, and Rudy Giuliani--Burns concludes his saga on a powerful note.

  • A fascinating documentary about the World Trade Center

New York: The Center of the World - Vol. 8 is the story of the World Trade Center from the beginning stages of its development and what the neighborhood where it would end up being built was like before its construction to its destruction by terrorists on September 11, 2001 and the rescue and recovery process. I borrowed this DVD from the public library and saw it before I decided to buy it. I wanted to add it to my collection of 9/11 media. I cried a lot when I saw it, of course, but I loved it.
