  • Excellent Picture on True History

I have known of David Frost since the time of TWTWTW - That Was The Week That Was when he appeared with the likes of John Cleese and the Two Ronnies. FrostNixon is of course a dramatisation of an already dramatic event - David Frost interviewing the then disgraced ex-president Nixon. It shows a no holds barred Nixon getting the upper hand, by far, in the interviews with an apparantly inept Frost, (who, at the time, was mostly known as a "Chat" show host) until Nixon finally succumbs to Frosts probing questions on the background to the Watergate conspiracy. The film is a true testament to the events, as verified by David Frost himself with some very fine acting by the cast. This is without a doubt the finest film that Ron Howard has directed to date and gives a true look into the events at ...

  • 10 rounds of compelling political drama!

In the extras on this disc, the Frost/Nixon interviews were compared to a boxing match, and this is more than apropos. Frank Langella's bravura performance should have been the Academy Award winner! After portraying Dracula in 1979, he had the preeminent credentials to recreate Nixon because 1.) many thought Nixon sucked the life out of people, and 2.)he tried relentlessly to come back from the dead. Michael Sheen (The Queen, Underworld) is the perfect foil. In the beginning, he underestimates his adversary, but finally comes back to to obtain startling revelations. In the end, whether or not you admired Nixon, you can feel a tinge of compassion for a man who put himself into his own private hell. Blu ray picture quality is excellent, and the high quality audio is subtle, but effective. ...

  • Not to be missed!

A remarkable performance by Frank Langella as Richard Nixon transforms this unexpected Ron Howard film into a gripping and unforgettable experience. The behind the scenes of the famous David Frost, Richard Nixon interviews pale in comparison to the compelling sight of Nixon/Langella thinking. It was difficult to forget that Michael Sheen was not Tony Blair but David Frost. Sheen's Frost is an entertaining foil to Langella's somber, sad, desolate portrait of the former president. Ron Howard finds a winning pace giving the true tale a fictional slant. Unfortunately I never saw the stage production and the film never betrays its theatrical origins. In a bizarre sort of way this is Ron Howard's most cinematic film. I highly recommend it.

  • Bringing to light the darker pages of our American history.

"Frost/Nixon," was nominated for 5 Oscars (including Best Picture), with 22 wins and 59 nominations, following its 2008 release to theaters. Brilliantly directed by Ron Howard, with an outstanding portrayal of former President Richard Nixon by Frank Langella, this movie is a mesmerizing account of the post-Watergate television interviews between British talk-show host David Frost and former president Richard Nixon. It was this interview where Nixon broke his 3 year silence following the Watergate scandal that forced him to leave office in disgrace. Ron Howard is to be commended for his superlative filmmaking and bringing to light the darker pages of our American history.
