I own a couple. They were all sourced "previously owned", and they all work, no hiccups. It's one of the few true dummy-proof networking products out there. A compact, simple, inexpensive, 8port self-managed (old IT hands sure appreciate it) 10/100 switch allows you to expand or extend connectivity, from a integrated router/modem, which often have only 4-6 ports. It self-detects "uplink" (the ethernet wire you bring from router to switch), which spares having to manually select or toggle anything, or patch uplink cables. Nifty! Particularly useful if you got a media stream box, game console, bluray player, audio-video receiver, tv, the other game console and [insert whatever other stuff here] hanging from a single spot. "Why not simply use wi-fi?" you ask. Because wireless fails, hiccups, software-crashes and is prone to interference from an a/c unit, microwave, or pretty much anything metallic or high-current in its path, that's why. Wired works, period. Always RTFM. Specific product gripe: NetGear did not standardize power supplies for this product. You might get a thin PS, or a Big Honking Fat Wide Blocky Chunky PS, that doesn't fit nicely into a power strip You can find documentation at www dot netgear dot com / support / product / FS108 dot aspx # docsRead full review

I have never had one of these switches with ports that shut down. I needed a switch box and thought I would give it a try. I have a couple of other setups that I will now be changing over to this netgear model. Very reliable.

This switch is a great cheap switch. Itβs only drawback is itβs 10/100 so you have to keep track of what you are using it for.

I bought this NetGear switch to provide additional network feeds for adding additional IP cameras for my security system. If I didn't like the product I wouldn't have purchased it in the first place, yes I like the product and there are no dislikes for this purchase. The NetGear products are generally satisfactory and I did not expect any issues at all when I purchased it. I would not have purchased any other brand as I have had excellent experiences with the NetGear. I have purchased several NetGear switches, of late and they were needed to complete my system.
Exactly as described and fair price.

Very easy to use, its Netgear so its not junk. Plug it in and go. Ive been running 4 POE items off this switch since I received this, and no problems.
I always have great luck with Netgear products. The FS108 line is no exception. This is a great switch for those that are looking for a straight out of the box plug and play switch.
