Not designed for gaming.
I normally use the Hyper 212 Evo with gaming computer builds; however, with my newest build, the case I decided to use wasn't big enough to fit the 212 Evo. So, I decided to give this heatsink a try. Playing a game that has a Pentium 4 2.4GHz as the recommended CPU, the processor was reaching temps of 92C+. I did not have the processor over clocked at all. The processor I was using is the i7-7700K. I removed the heatsink, cleaned everything off, and reapplied the heatsink. Same temperatures. I ordered a 212 Evo and the processor stays under 80C under full load. big but quiet
This is a good alternative to the 212 If it's too big for your case. Keep in mind the mass of the fan. I had to purchase low profile ram to clear the low profile design on my micro atx.. I would avoid using this with an itx board because it will either block a ram or pci express slot depending on design of the board.
