Notes
This legendary 1968 LP (recorded for Chess's Cadet Concept imprint) was considered controversial upon it's release, due to producer Marshall Chess's decision to fuse Muddy's classic blues with late '60s psychedelic rock. This wildly experimental LP inspired catcalls from purists, but became Muddy's biggest hit album in the '60s. The CD debut of this hotly requested classic features digital remastering, new liner notes and a photo-filled booklet that was originally included in only the first 1,000 LPs sold.

BEWARE! This seller will put whatever in the description details just to raise the price. Ordered a recalled version of a CD, which was clearly stated in the description, only to get the regular version at a price 3x higher. Also, shipping time is ridiculous. Ordered over 20 items from different sellers on the same day and every other item arrived a week before this specific item. I contact the seller and he says eBay fills out the description. Lol. Then proceeds to block communication.

  • Electric Mud

I was one of the few people I knew that bought this album when it came out .. Most Muddy purists hated it, but being a musician, I appreciated the change of pace it must have been for Mr. Waters. And his smooth stylings so fit the psychedelic treatments the albums artists presented him, that I could only say to myself, "If you've got it, you can do anything with it"... At times it's a bit over-produced, but these tunes will haunt you for years to come; they have with me! And the photo of Muddy in the white robe w/ his axe is priceless! Great, must-have recording!

  • Obvious transition from acoustic blues to electric.

Lately I`ve been revisiting the music I listened to in the past. Call it nostalga or things to spark forgotten memories. When Muddy Waters released this album in the late sixities, myself and many friends were experiencing chaotic times. Our generation was in the forefront of a social and political revolution. "Times they are changing" America had lost its "innocense" So much of our feelings were echoed in the music and lyrics of that time. "ELECTRIC MUD" had that amplified - in your face- guitar sound that blended so well with Muddy`s blues vocals. Too bad there were only 8 tracks. However the 8 were absolutely great. I especially liked Muddy`s version of "Lets spend the night together" Not that it was better or anything ...just as great only a different interpretation. So I recomend this ...

  • Electric mud - Muddy Waters

It is after seeing a movie that I learned about the existence of this record. One of the best the famous Chess records label ever produced. The style is surprising. Everything but classical knowing that Me muddy Waters was everything but not classical. You can feel the influence of the psychedelic times that were dominant when the record was made in 1968. Some of sounds are just like if they were imported from a Hendrix record. It is Chess records who had this idea to mix styles. The record was a commercial failure. It is know considered as one of the best blues records ever. I think it is a pure jewel. Jean-Marc - France

  • A very good blues CD for anyone who likes this genre.

I enjoy blues music from time to time and especially the greats like Muddy Waters. The album is typical Muddy Waters early electric blues that you can relate to many artists of the 60's and 70's. Also, being from Chicago, Chess Records is part of the city's memorable past.

  • Good Blues CD

This is a very good blues cd. I have enjoyed it very much.
