My 3 star rating for shipping charges in no way reflects upon the seller (who I would purchase from again) but the involuntary expense involved. The seller was accurate in the description of may be damaged, have pen, highlight marks, dog eared pages, crinkled here and there. The book was bought for educational purposes and as such will suffice as the content is what was sought, not nessasarly the tattered cover. Book was put in bag and sent 3000 miles so it is difficult to say the shape it was in when it left. Will buy from seller again!! Tracking was incorrect but has NOTHING to do with seller. Helping a charity is helping a community.☺

What's not to love about a Coffeehouse Mystery wherein the heroine crafts a simile about buying the Brooklyn Bridge on eBay? "A Brew to a a Kill" is the 11th title in Cleo Coyle's well-caffeinated series of Coffeehouse Mysteries. As always, the heroine and narrator is Clare Cosi, manager of the fictitious Village Blend coffeehouse in New York City's Greenwich Village. It may be, as the author's Acknowledgments page calls it, "a light work of amateur sleuth fiction", but like the other entries in this excellent series, "A Brew to a Kill" has a latte more substance than your average cozy. The plot features a dual storyline: On the one hand, we have a mysterlous hit-and-run driver seemingly bent on revenge. On the other hand, Clare's ex-husband -- who also happens to be the Village Blend's ... On a larger scale, the various arcs of character that have been drawn over the course of the series include a romantic crossroads for Clare and her police detective lover, Mike Quinn. Their deepening relationship is just one example of the aforementioned substance that sets the Coffeehouse Mysteries above mere coziness. Peopled with expertly drawn characters well grounded in reality, "A Brew to a Kill" juggles and interweaves its two storylines as deftly as a barista pulling a perfect double expresso. Tension builds steadily as events unfold, while delicious misdirection combines with cleverly dropped clues that challenge even the most determinedly detecting reader to figure out whodunit. Better yet, recipes for enticing dishes mentioned throughout the book are provided at the back of it. Melt-and-Mix Double Chcolate Espresso-Glazed Loaf Cake, anyone? Best of all?
