I have had my LX2 for several years and have shot thousands of pictures with it. It is an absolute dream to use and the quality of the photos are remarkable. I have purchased other cameras that provide some new features, like a touch screen and feature rich GUI, and have always come back to the LX2 for shot quality, speed and features. The Program and Manual controls of this camera are "over the top" in functionality and ease of use. I agree with others that the optical zoom does limit the flexibility of the camera. I have been looking for something with similar features and results that I have enjoyed with the LX2. I recently purchased the ZS7 in hopes that it will perform equally well as the LX2. Time will tell.....
The LX-2 is a serious photographer's point-and-shoot camera. In my experience, including 4 other "serious" P&S cameras, the Panasonic excels in user control, quality construction, classic design, and ease-of-use. It's image quality (in halfway decent light) is equivalent to many dSLR's. In poor light, I often took this camera in lieu of my dSLR (which has a slower lens) because its excellent IS and low-light capability makes after-dark pictures not only possible but fun. As in all small-sensor cameras, noise can be added at high ISO's. However, in practical results, I believe that more has been made of this problem than perhaps should have been. Unlike its successor, the LX-3, it has a usable zoom, and its 16:9 format actually ADDS pixels, instead of masking the built-in format, like the LX-3. Wide angle shots are superb. A wonderful landscape camera and pretty darned good on macros as well.Read full review

It is SMALL and powerful..The Lx2 takes photos that rival DSLR quality. 4x zoom is a (maybe) a little small range, but with 10mp u can 100% crop and still print 8x10..It is ONE of the best Ihave ever owned....
A bit outdated now. But i've gotten some choice photos out of it
