About this product

Product Information

In 1861, President Lincoln began ordering any Northern newspaper that voiced opposition to the war shut down. After his press was destroyed, John Hodgson went to court, launching a trial in which the small-town publisher risked imprisonment or worse, and the future of free speech hung in the balance.

Seller absolutely, stubbornly refused to communicate with me on the item. I bought it anyway because it was a good price. I sent several messages that went unanswered. So sad. Other than that the shipping and condition was good. The packaging poor and I was very surprised it wasn't damaged. No padding just 2 thin plastic bags.

  • Revealing look at politically incorrect history of compulsory Mr. Lincoln

Anyone who thinks Lincoln was only a noble leader who respected the Constitution should take a look. This book references accounts of suppression and incarceration of newspaper men, gestapo like tactics to destroy newspaper press works, banning newspapers with disfavorable opinions of Lincoln from being able to send their papers thru the US Mail and thereby again abusing freedom of the press. In so many ways, Lincoln did much to secure Big Government practices and workings into place and sadly, many of these abuses are not only overlooked today, when pointed out, many people become so indignant they won't even listen or look at the real historical record. This book reveals another side of Lincoln rarely known and certainly not taught in our big government schools.
