  • Pork Chop Hill DVD, 2009

It is a good movie when it was made. Main actor G. Peck. No enough Gun-ho in him, not enough large action battles. Low budget movie. The movie showed the war as it is, the brass drinking cocktails with the enemy, and having no knowledge of what is really going on. Taking a Hill that did not matter. It did show that the G.I's were as always, short of men, short of good weapons, short of the right weapons for that type of battle. The calif. N.G lost about 90% of the 40th armed Div. Sent with one month training against well season Vet's. No such thing as a good war. I would grade the movie a C. Mr. Peck is no john Wayne. This was the start of Police action. Not a war.and don't attack the couunty is attacking you. The movie was too short on the whole scope of the war could have more meat. (The ...

  • Pork Chop Hill

A classic war movie of the Korean era, Gregory Peck stars as Lt Clemons who is leading a company of men and they are to attack and hold the trenches on a meaningless hill. Great action and combat enactments of the assault and then the defense of the hill are in the movie. Peck finds out after they take the hill, he has very few men left and they are facing an overwhelming counter-attack by Chinese forces to recapture the place. While Clemons begs his superiors for support the negotiators at the Peace Talks twittle their thumbs-until the Americans figure it out, and decide they must hold the hill. Great movie, and one of only a few that is made of Korean War.

  • When I asked my dad about his time in Korea, He told me to watch this movie and imagine if things were ten times worse.

Seemed a little preachy but I imagine that was the point. Mr. Peck gives his typical stoic performance.

  • I was there...

When I was 20, and I trained as a rifleman at Fort Ord, I was sent to Korea. The movie has brought back many memories. The movie has many of the hardships that has been suffered but not the snow season. Its a classic!
