    A better than kit quality lens

    This film era autofocus zoom lens, made by Pentax under the Takumar brand, is fully compatible and works great with newer Pentax digital SLR cameras. On a 35mm SLR camera, this lens covers a wide angle to short telephoto range. On a modern DSLR, it's equivalent to 42-120mm. The lens has good close focus capability with a macro setting, accessed by clicking the zoom ring just past the 80mm mark. Compared with newer kit level lenses, this one is a cut above in terms of handling, construction and performance.

    $12 Lens

    This lens is great if you can get it cheap. Its role in my Pentax system is as a beater lens. Something I can throw on without worry. Optically this lens is ok, but that wasn't the intention of my purchase. It works perfectly for the role I gave it. If you are looking for a great affordable, manual lens, look to the M 50mm, f1.4.
