    The Title Says It All

It's described as "The Definitive Collection", and I guess it is. As the years go by I see BSG TOS as far less of a "Star Wars Ripoff", as it was accused of being at the time, than a great epic tale in its own right. It deserved better treatment than it got and should have on for several seasons, but that's showbiz... For the record, I'm also a fan of the Sci-Fi Channel reboot but will always have a soft spot for the original. I also think the Galactica Control Room was one of the best sci-fi spaceship sets ever designed, for TV OR movies, and was far more impressive than the U.S.S. Enterprise. It's a pity we didn't see more of it in the show. Great to see the complete series in HD, although I could have forgone the widescreen versions in favor of more extras such as more behind-the-scenes ...

  • Top critical review

    Inconsistent

Herein is a review of the remastered 1080p High Definition Battlestar Galactica: The Definitive Collection. It is not a review of the Battlestar Galactica saga, which ranks among my top 3 favorite series. Rather, it is a review of the quality of the remastering. This remaster was a long awaited addition to my collection. The movie was actually well done. Most scenes were very clear, almost live video. Images were primarily quite vivid, crisp, and smooth. Almost life-like. Colors were vibrant. There is really not much more to say about the video quality, which when summed up was nearly excellent with some imperfections. However, the audio track left some room for improvement. Where I expected the sound track to boom from my speakers, e.g., the main fanfare, it seemed a bit weak and ...

  • Brings Back Great Memories

Haven't seen the original series since I was in High School. At that time we were so hungry for good SF programs. Really disappointed when they cancelled the series. It seemed like they could have gone far. It was indeed ahead of its time. BSG 1980 was a good attempt - but just didn't have the magic of the original cast and crew. This is a good collection that covers full frame and widescreen.

  • A bit redundant!

I bought this series because I was a big fan as a teenager! What I didn’t realize is that it would include a full screen version and a widescreen version, I don’t need both so I shared with a friend. If the product description mentioned this fact, I missed it. Regardless I loved it then, I still love it today!
