About this product

Product Information

Wario's Woods for the Super Nintendo and NES is an addition to the Nintendo Super Mario Bros. universe. It was released by Nintendo in Japan in February 1994. Later that year, in December, this quirky game was unleashed on the American markets. It has its place in video game history because Wario's Woods was the final game to ever be released for the NES. Join Toad, the hero of the Mushroom Kingdom, as he seeks to restore balance to the woods and do away with Wario's evil curse. As in most NES games from the Super Mario Bros. franchise, Wario has cursed the peaceful creatures of the Mushroom Kingdom. His evil intent is to curse the characters in the woods to do his bidding. These friendly critters from the woods have turned into monsters under Wario's spell. It is a grave task for our hero, but he's not alone. Joining Toad is Birdy, who can give advice and cheer him on. Also with him is Wanda, who creates bombs for Toad to use in order to beat the levels. She also shows him how to make items match. The team is replaced by Wario when a timer goes off.Wario's Woods has items coming down from the top of the screen. The player must arrange these items to clear the level, much like a puzzle game. The game offers a great twist: Toad from the Mario Bros. universe arrives and rearranges the items. You use him to make similar lines of colors with at least one of them being a bomb. However, Toad cannot move items he doesn't have access to. He has a few tricks up his sleeve to beat Wario. Our hero can kick objects across the playing field. He can also climb up a mountain of items to get access to the top ones. If he can't get rid of all the items on the playing field, he will be squished. Once he is squished, the game is finished. If the player fails, Wario and his enemies in the woods of the Kingdom will win, so you'll have to be quick to help Toad clear the items and advance through the levels. Only by moving and blowing up the items in the woods can you defeat Wario. The Tetris-like gameplay in this game has a rating of K-A, which means that kids aged 6 and up can play, and the game is suitable for adults to enjoy as well. Puzzle games like these are great for the whole family to exercise their thinking and strategy skills. The Nintendo Entertainment System version of this game has 8-bit graphics while the Super NES version has 16-bit graphics and a redone musical score. Mario games like these are an important part of media and entertainment history; you can replay this fun SNES game on your old console to relive the fun of retro gaming, or you can introduce the classic characters and puzzles to your kids for an experience the whole family will enjoy.

    Excellent Puzzle Game

An excellent and engaging puzzle game with a competitive 2 player mode and a fun story mode. This game also has a battery back up, which is uncommon in these old NES cartridges! Love this game.

  • My favorite puzzle game!

I loved the original Wario's Woods on NES and the SNES version made some improvements! The new soundtrack and graphics are great! Much better than the original! Gameplay stayed mostly the same, but they unfortunately removed boss battles, which was a feature they had in the original. Regardless, if you're looking for a fresh, unique puzzle game, Wario's Woods is definitely worth a try.
