Michael Crighton 1st novel The Andromeda Strain
I'm reading the book for the first time. I remember as a kid watching the movie. It was the most advanced scifi movie of it's time. With the Chinese biological attack against the People of the United States with Covid19 this book is a perfect example of how bad things can get. Government overreach, arrogance and ignorance was the problem with the Andromeda Strain just as it is the problem with Covid19. Although not my favorite of his work, Terminal Man proves just how far ahead of his time Crichton was. Released in 1971 the basic story is about how a mild mannered man experiencing violent behavior during seizures, gets a computer chip implanted in his brain to interrupt the brain before going into a seizure. Well I’m not going to go into the story very far but an interesting side note is just how accurate some of the theories expressed in the book have turned out to be. The advantage to reading a highly technical book (for its time) 35 years later is that you know how technology has progressed. This book is well worth the read, and even if you read it a long time ago, read it again and see how precise he was.
