Dreams in the Golden Country
Written by my third grade daughter: The main character wanted to be an actress and I want to be one also. It was a book about a Jewish immigrant, which I have been very interested in the history of different immigrants. Most of the Dear America books have very sad parts in them, like wars. This book only has a fire that burned only one building and her sister marries a Christian man which most Jewish people were against. I bought this book to read slowly. I wanted to read a page a day since it is a diary. I thought it would be interestubg to read one of her days writings each night before I went to bed but once you begin this book, you can't put it down. I will admit, it was a little slow in the beginning but the further into it the better it gets. Very nice hardback. It's more of a "youth" book and makes me wish I had got more into reading this type of stuff when I was younger.I bought this book to read slowly. I wanted to read a page a day since it is a diary.
