About this product

Product Information

The book presents an overview of multivariate statistics and their place in research. It describes the appropriate context for -- and the types of empirical questions that can best be addressed by -- each technique or family of techniques, as well as the distribution assumptions that must be met for the analysis to be meaningful. The most commonly used multivariate techniques are examined in detail: multiple regression and correlation, path analysis, principal-components analysis, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, multidimensional scaling, analysis of cross-classified data, logistic regression, multivariate an alysis of variance (MANOVA), discriminant analysis, and meta-analysis. Statistical notations are explained, underlying assumptions are described, and terms are defined clearly and understandably. Concepts and symbols are presented with minimal use of formulas and a generous use of real-world research examples. Each chapter also includes suggestions for additional reading and a glossary of statistical and related terms.

Seller absolutely, stubbornly refused to communicate with me on the item. I bought it anyway because it was a good price. I sent several messages that went unanswered. So sad. Other than that the shipping and condition was good. The packaging poor and I was very surprised it wasn't damaged. No padding just 2 thin plastic bags.

Item was exactly as described and shown in pictures, packed nicely and secure, and delivered in a timely manner. The Seller is very polite and easy to communicate with. 10/10 will buy from again.

  • Reading and Understanding Multivariate Statistics

This book is intended for the researcher or consumer of the research who needs a basic understanding of multivariate statistics (e.g., regression, factor analysis). It is not intended to provide statistical understanding of these processes; rather, its emphasis is to provide conceptual and practical knowledge which can be used to effectively critique and understand research or conduct it. I have not personally used the book enough to know its value, but I have heard from several professionals (including a statistics professor) that this particular book is an irreplaceable resource that should have its place on every social science professionals' shelf. The field has advanced since the publication of this book in 1995, so the authors have since published, "Reading and Understanding More ...
