This stand-alone second chapter in the online epic Guild Wars introduces brave gamers to the continent of Cantha, an Asian-inspired land where large parties of allied wizards and warriors do battle for glory and territory. Expanding on the guild structure set in the original game, Factions features four new mission types, which encourage large groups of players to form alliances, in order to complete challenging quests and to wage war against other player groups for control of strategically valuable towns and outposts. Similar to the first Guild Wars game, Factions offers a hybrid of small-scale cooperative gaming and "massively multiplayer" role-playing. Individual quests are completed in instanced areas, generated exclusively for the players in the party, while public areas, such as cities and towns, are accessible to all and support thriving, player-driven economies. In addition to the war-torn land of Cantha, this second Guild Wars chapter features 300 new skills, 50 more questing and battle locales, and two additional character professions. The Assassin uses a teleport-like ability to specialize in stealthy attacks and quick kills, making up in efficiency what he may lack in honor. The Ritualist can access a unique set of summoning spells that allow the conjuration of arcane beasts to aid in combat. As with the initial Guild Wars game -- but unlike most persistent-world online role-playing games -- no subscription fee is required to play Guild Wars: Factions. A copy of the first Guild Wars game is not required to play Factions, either, although original Guild Wars players can use their existing characters embark on the new adventures featured in the follow-up, or lead their new Assassins and Ritualists back through the adventures presented in the first game.

Guild Wars Factions Collector's Edition
I love the two new classes and the new dances. The Collector's Edition with the "backup dancers" for the Sins and Rits is awesome. Also the Mini Kuunavang pet is the best. It's a lot of fun to play and being about to play with people from all over the world with no monthly fee is AWESOME. The only think I don't like about it is the timed missions. It's pretty hard to get masters on some of them. Other than that it's a great game. And if you add the other two campaigns Prophices (Guild Wars) and Nightfall you have three Continents that you can take your favorite chr to. And if you still need more you can always get the only expansion from guild wars EotN (Eye of the North aka GW:EN. So no matter if you just want the one or to get them all you will have hours of fun!!!I love the two new classes and the new dances. Classic Game, Great CE In-Game Items/Dances
Factions is the second campaign in the trilogy of Prophecy, Factions, and Nightfall. The expansion, Eye of the North, is the final box release for the game, until Guild Wars 2. The game is great fun to play, and the art style for the game is amazing. Even though the first campaign was released in 2005 and the final boxed content in 2007, the environments are still very immersive and awesome to see. There's a lot of variety to the contents and areas within the game. Yes it is free-to-play, but there are many upgrades that can be purchased for the game. During the time of this review, Guild Wars 2 seems like it's right around the corner and only reason to play this original game is to pass the time. This specific expansion, Factions, is based on a continent that reminds me of Chinese traditions. Although it is pure fantasy, there are some similarities, such as the Canthan New Year which is celebrated in-game during Chinese New Year. There are many events such as this in Guild Wars, but Canthan New Year's celebration activities are probably my favorite out of all the holiday celebrations. Factions allows you to create 2 professions not available in Prophecy or Nightfall - the Assassin and Ritualist. These two professions are very potent in regards to certain PvE farming builds and also powerful PvP competitors. However this game can't be fully enjoyed without the 3 continents and expansion. Locking yourself into Factions alone will severely limit the amount of content and skills you can aquire. The Collectors Edition gives you unique dances for the Ritualist and Assassin. Although this doesn't sound like a big deal, the dances are actually awesome to watch, and a lot of people don't have the CE signature dances. The other important feature is the Miniature Kuunavang, which is a minipet dragon. It's popular among traders and is one of the larger pets and also one of the cool looking pets. You can use it in the Hall of Monuments to get the point for putting a "unique" miniature pet in the hall. This point goes towards the achievements in Guild Wars 2. There are a total of 50 points to earn, but most people are just trying to get 30, since after 30 points there are no more item rewards just "titles" which can be shown by your name.

While Guild Wars Prophecies introduced us to the continent of Tyria, Guild Wars Factions brought us the continent of Cantha. A place of feudal traditions, huge cityscapes, the blasted desolation of the Jade Sea and the deep darkness of the Echovald Forest. Guild Wars Factions is a reasonable game by itself but it really comes into its own when combined with the other Guild Wars games. Not only does the Title system work across all the continents (thus needing all the campaigns to achieve the most titles) but the PvP element requires all the skills you can muster. Teams often requiring skills from some or even all of the campaigns. I give this a "Good" for its interleaving with the other Guild Wars games and it is required for PvP. This Guild Wars 2nd Expansion has full features especially the collectors edition, you can exclusively get Special Signature Emotes and Dances for Ritualist and Assassin professions in Factions and the wonderful thing is mini pet Kuunanvang you can unlock it by typing /gift... so by it now before its gone!

This is a great way to enjoy the in-game bonuses of GW Factions Collectors edition. Especially if it is just an add on for you. The new dances for the assassin and ritualist are unique. The mini pet Kuunavang is special for the buyer as well as worth alot ingame for trading. This is the way to go if you want just the ingame properties but not the cd's, posters and such.
