    Historically most informative.

    I have found that it is pleasing because I enjoy the history of Holy Island, St Cuthbert, St Aidan and St Oswald, and the history relating to the monks of that time as they came from Iona.

    Bede's history is essential reading for Christians.

    This is an amazing history, written in the "dark ages". Much of it is from the Christian perspective, which is not surprising as Bede is a saint. But the book also explained the background, especially of the years after the Romans left Britain. And how the Saxons came to be here. How did the ancient Britons feel about it? I won't spoil it! You will need to buy the book to find out! Neil.
