Pros- The prints are outstanding, photo-lab quality. The auto duplexing is very good. The scanner is excellent. I like the 2 paper feed trays; I have separate types of paper in each feed tray. The CD/DVD printing is great. Overall, I would score it 90 out of 100. Cons- The CD/DVD printing feature, to me, is the only weak point. To enable this feature, you press a button on the control panel. The printer then clicks and whurrs and a motorized tray pops up in the paper output tray. This is where you slide the CD/DVD holder into. You have to line up two arrows (one on the disk holder and one on the tray), then click print. The printer pulls the holder into the tray and the disk gets printed. In my opinion, the motorized tray is an area of weakness, and prone to an early failure. The CD/DVD holder fits rather loosely in the tray. I can see alignment issues there. I would prefer to see a disk tray, similar to a CD/DVD drive, that would open and close. June 2010- I've had this printer now for 2 years. Haven't had any problems with it yet. I've printed many, many DVDs and photos. Excellent printer. Now that I've said that, watch it die tonight.Read full review
My 10 yr old HP printer has been sent on to retirement after having a very good, long life. I didn't know I would be replacing HP when I left home that afternoon. I went to Office Depot to buy my kid's school supplies..."it's the most wonderful time of the year!!!!" la, la, la, la, humming along, smiling broadly as I strolled the aisles.....just minding my own business... when this printer jumped off the shelf and landed in my cart! I couldn't believe my eyes! What a sight dazzled my eyes! A home printer that does double-sided copies AND has TWO paper trays??? I decided to splurge on features I kept saying to myself through the years..."Self, I wish I could print double-sided", "Self, I wish I didn't have to change paper types back and forth all the time..." YES!!! This printer is the answer to all my needs. I bought TWO!!! Yes, TWO!!!!!!!!! (I gave one to my mom.) I've been using this printer for a week now, and WOW do I love this printer. It has so many features I will never need to go to the print shop again. I decided to put regular paper in the rear tray, and shipping labels for USPS in the front tray. Oh my gosh...to never have to switch the dang paper in and out, back and forth, to and fro, over and over again...this feature alone is worth every cent you pay for this printer. You can print in 3 different color modes, including Vivid, Standard, and Adobe RGB. You can EDIT the cyan, magenta, yellow, etc separately. When duplex printing (the coveted double-sided printing), you can even edit THE PRINT DENSITY so any solid black areas don't print so heavily with ink that you see it through on the other side...so annoying when that happens. I've printed many photos with it. The color and clarity is perfect! I took a photo of my son in the living room. I have periwinkle walls (ok, so I like purple...). When the photo printed, the exact shade of periwinkle was in the photo. I even held it up to the wall to compare. (I have a VERY expensive digital camera that takes perfect photos, I'm sure that helped as well.) When printing photos, you can make selections such as edge smoothing, photo enhance, color correct (kids, landscapes, night scene, sepia, gray!!!) Who needs Paint Shop Pro??? You can even mirror image the photos using the printer!!! (laughing hysterically now) Ok, all theatrics aside now...(my momma tried to beat this out of me when I was a youngun...I don't think it took, do you?) This printer is the printer to beat all other printers. It's like the Idiot's guide to printers all on the screen. You can even select what kind of maintenance needs to be done on the dang thing. How smart is that??? Status monitor can automatically check for errors! Nozzle Check is a tool you can click if gaps or faint areas appear in your printout. Egads, who needs to think when this printer does the thinking for you. There's head cleaning...print head alignment...AND you can tell the printer what other devices you've got to play with besides your computer. I need to go lay down, the excitement is getting to be too much for me. But really, in case I've been too subtle...I love this printer. Update: Oct. 2013 I've printed thousands and thousands and thousands of things with this printer. I love this printer so much I took it to a repair center to have simple maintenance done on it. They cleaned the innards and everything. (Knocking on wood now so I don't jinx myself!) I don't know how I'll live if this printer ever does die on me.Read full review
This is an Excellent printer. BUT, it does not print well in the real fast mode, it puts very little ink on the paper. On the other hand, for simple forms you use, its great, and prints hundreds in no time. Scanner is real good, and it copies well in photocopy mode. Lots of features from the control panel, I could never use them all. Oh, the automatic 2-sided printing is super paper saver, but it does one funny thing. If you only send it one page to print, it runs it thru on both sides, which just seems odd, but no big deal.... Nice printer!
product works fine just had to buy ink so far so good
