Painkiller is a first-person shooter set in the sinister world of gothic horror. As the mercenary known as Painkiller, players are charged with the task of eliminating the undead in whatever lair, tomb, or residence they may be lurking in. Dressed in a black overcoat and wearing sunglasses to protect himself from the harsh glare of sunlight, Painkiller has earned a reputation for his no-nonsense approach to demon hunting. Yet he also hides a secret: a pact with a demon has granted him special powers at the expense of his humanity. <br><br>Painkiller must fight his way past hordes of undead creatures while freeing whatever is left of their souls. With every 100 souls collected, Painkiller can transform into a ghastly creature himself, using its physical strength and ferocity to engage multiple demons at once. Players will also have at their disposal an arsenal of ranged weapons, all of which feature primary and secondary attacks. Painkiller uses the Havok physics engine (Thief III, Deus Ex: Invisible War) for its interactive 3D environments and details such as moving clothes, rippling water, and crumbling walls.

Painkiller (PC) review
The graphics are on par with the current generation console systems (Playstation3, XBOX360), and depending on your PC, even better than the consoles. I'm sure the game would look amazing on an Alienware PC, or comparable "gaming" PC. The weapons are truly unique to any other FPS game that I have ever played. The "tarot cards" and the extra abilities gained from finding them throughout the game is also a unique feature to the game. The giant bosses truly give a sense of perspective. Also, the vast array of enemies keeps the game fresh, and each level is very well designed and unique from one to another. The "children's school" was especially frightening! The gameplay can get a bit repetetive, as this FPS is not about stealth or strategy at all. It's a "run and gun" type game. All in all, ... I like this game because it's a first-person shooter, my favorite genre. It's graphics are excellent as well as the scenery. The game immerses you in rich sound, sights and adventure. This is my entertainment...

Great game with armies of ennemies attacking you. No need for a killer graphics card. An nVidia 6600GT is sufficient for full graphics. Also, reat physics engine.
