About this product

Product Information

You can solve the mysteries and escape the dystopian nightmare of the undersea world of Rapture in the BioShock Ultimate Rapture Edition for Xbox 360. This pack contains two video games: BioShock, and BioShock 2, as well as the downloadable content (DLC) for each game, including BioShock 2’s add-on campaign mission Minerva’s Den. Both of these games in the BioShock series can be considered classics by modern gamers, combining tremendous stories with gameplay that can pose quite a challenge, so combining them in the Ultimate Rapture Edition can be a treat for any video game enthusiast with an Xbox 360. BioShock (release date: August 21, 2007), developed by Irrational Games and published by 2K Games, is the first game in the pack, and could be one of the best games of all time, combining claustrophobic horror gameplay with well developed characters and a truly impressive narrative. The game is set in 1960, and you play a character named Jack, whose plane has just crashed in the ocean near the underwater city of Rapture. Rapture was created by a visionary business magnate Andrew Ryan, with the intention of creating a utopia free from the grasp of government regulation. Ryan, and by extension, Rapture, became obsessed with ADAM, a genetic material that can grant special powers in the form of plasmids, an injectable upgrade. Rapture fell into disarray as its inhabitants abused ADAM and the powers it gave them, such as telekinesis and the ability to shoot fire from their hands. Jack reaches Rapture and is contacted by a figure named Atlas, who claims that Ryan has gone mad and has kidnapped Atlas’s family. Atlas wants you to help him stop Ryan and rescue his family. Along the way, you must avoid Splicers (plasmid addicts who have turned psychotic); the game’s iconic Big Daddies, giant beasts with drills for hands; and many other threats, both environmental and evil. At some point, the player will meet the enigmatic Ryan face to face — and that’s where the game’s incredible story really begins. The Ultimate Rapture Edition includes add-on content for BioShock, so you also get the Plasmid Pack, Challenge Rooms (which were originally a PlayStation exclusive, but are available here for Xbox 360), and the Museum of Orphaned Concepts, which showcases ideas and art that weren’t included in the final game. BioShock 2 (release date: February 9, 2010), developed by 2K Marin and published by 2K Games (Irrational Games assisted in development), is also included in the BioShock Ultimate Rapture Edition. In this second installment in the series, the player controls a Big Daddy, one of the many enemies from BioShock. You are tasked with protecting an orphan, but she is taken from your charge, and you must retrieve her, as your life literally depends on it. BioShock 2 also adds a multiplayer mode, where you play with and against other players online. (Multiplayer was not a feature of the original BioShock game.) This version of BioShock 2 also includes the add-on content for the game, including the extra missions in the Minerva’s Den DLC. Both games in this pack won several Game of the Year awards, so gamers can not be disappointed by the BioShock Ultimate Rapture Edition.

  • Great story; adequate FPS

Of the 2 the original Bioshock is a far superior game with an engaging story albeit at times very frustrating, defeating a Big Daddy before you have leveled up is tough. I also found that towards the end of the game it was pretty easy after you have gained weapons and abilities. A very good game even if there are really no single player packs in the expansion. The sequel? Well what can you say, it's a sequel. The main problem I found is the story was not nearly as good and it is not a truly a free roam game; once you have finished a level you cannot go back and revisit completed levels which you could do in the first one. I also found that both games suffer frame screen freeze, sometimes as long as 4-5 seconds which can be frustrating in the heat of battle. Really good series even if the ...

  • Great value for these games!

I bought this product because I recently played and finished Bioshock Infinite. I was told I didn't need to have played the first 2 games, especially since a prequel. Although that was true, Bioshock Infinite is such an incredible game that I wanted to play Bioshock 1 & 2. These games came out several years ago but still sell for around $20 each without DLC. This version is great because it includes both games and all their DLC. There are 4 discs (2 CDs are the games and 2 CDs are their respective DLC). This is clearly the better deal The picture here shows the outer protective case but there is a nice inner box. It looks similar to a collectors item. This box set also includes 3 post card sized Bioshock Infinite stickers. They are titled "Greetings from Columbia" and they are in the ...

  • One of the Greatest Game Series of all Time Plus all Extras: Amazing Deal

Bioshock I and II are, in my opinion, two of the greatest games of all time. These are epic 1st person shooters, and unlike so many newer games, which are more focused on online gaming than storyline, this game is so rich in story it's unbelievable. An amazing single player experience. Some of the best I have ever played. And the deal for both games together, with all the extras, is a bargain. You can't go wrong woth this game. Thank you.
