What would you say if I said you could buy one game and be able to race all of the following: Open Wheel, Stock Car, Monster Truck, Rally, Kart, SuperTrucks, Off-Road (Buggy & Motocross), plus Germany's DTM, Australian SuperCars, Indy Racing League, Craftsman Trucks Series and best-of-all, Lawnmowers (Yes folks, Lawnmowers) in ONE game? Well folks you prolly thought like I did, if it has that much stuff packed into one game, it must rock. It does. Codemasters stepped up to the plate and knocked one out of the park with this game, including 80 tracks, 70 Licensed Cars, 35 types of racing and literally hundreds of Cups/Championships to be won. It literally immerses you into the world of racing, beginning with the massive World Tour mode. 32 levels of racing action await you as you try to conquer tracks from around the world in a wide variety cars, trucks and other vehicles. That's only the beginning as the game also features, Pro Career, which includes 8 different categories of racing to choose from (Classics, GT, Oval, Touring Car, Off-Road, Open Wheel, TMS and Honda Challenge). Hundreds of Cups are to be had here if you take the time to race each category. If you're lucky enough to complete both of the previous, you now have a fully unlocked game to use in Free Race mode. Which can played against the CPU, or friends (in Multiplayer or system link modes), plus Xbox live with up to 12 racers per race. One small drawback is the lack of access to cheat codes, which can only be purchased from Codemasters themselves, making you spend the additional 6 dollars in addition to the price of the game itself. Other than that the game is far away the best racer to be released by Codemasters in recent memory, everything about the game works perfectly, from the drafting on oval tracks to the scenery at Indianapolis. It's one truly spectacular effort. Two Thumbs WAY up, Codemasters.Read full review
I had been looking for this particular game for a couple of months when I fould it on e-Bay (no surprise). It has been worth the wait. Anyone familiar with this series knows how it goes — a career mode that consists of a ladder of series in many different race cars on countless tracks. Some of the tracks are real, some are fictional, but most are well designed. In the ladder series you are placed in a specific car for each series, but I have yet to run into a car that couldn't compete. Through most of the career mode you must place in the top three or four in one of three different disiplines (sp?) to open the next rung of the ladder. In addition there are free race and qualifying modes for tracks and cars that have been opened up in the ladder series. This is where you can try different cars in the series you have opened. Available cars run the complete gamut - from lawn mowers (available in the unlockable Honda mode) to Formula One racers. Tracks range from dirt ovals, stadium dirt courses and rally tracks to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and some fast European road courses. The racing is fun and challenging, particularly with a not so unique feature called the "Reset Button" where if you wreck or fall behind you just start over. Controls are intuative and what you would expect from a racing game. I am not a hardcore gamer - rather I'm an adult who likes to relax after work with a couple of rounds on the X-Box. I also do not consider myself particular good at games - probably a 3 or 4 on a scale of 10 - but I have fun with the game. I do well enough to stay interested and am challenged enough not to get bored. This is one of the best racing games available for the X-Box.Read full review
Simply the best racing game available! Many different classes of vehicles, some of which can not be driven elsewhere. The largest selection of real tracks, again some can not be found anywhere else. Career mode for the diehard racers as well as freestyle for those that just want to have fun. With the realism and accuracy it does not get any better than Toca Race Driver 3 for the Xbox! As an experienced racecar driver I've played this game more hours than I'd like to admit. I'm sure you won't get sick of it either because you can just switch to another car or truck to drive and it's like starting a whole new game. Excellent value on the quality and sheer size of the options available. A must buy!
Wanna be Tony Stewart or Mario Andretti or Stirling Moss? hink you can drive anything? Try TOCA 3. So far I've got over 20 hours into it and think it's excellent. The physics are realistic and very different for the various types of vehicles. Damage can be as real as you want. For each class there are 2-4 races of 3-8 laps to make up a mini-series. No struggling to complete a 200 lap race. This is not a NASCAR or F-1 simulation. Much more variety. The designers did a bunch of work to make each class different in handling, power, etc. Overall, a winner!
I bought TOCA Race Driver 3 because Toca Race Driver 2 was a great game and i was not disapointed at all. So many different styles of racing and all the vehicles are ajustable. The best part of all is you can wreck every car or truck available and just start over. So much fun wrecking engines and blowing tires and rims off cars i laugh myself silly, love it!!! (I recommend playing with manual transmission, and use left and right triggers to shift.)...Dave
