The "Cut-away drawing" part alone make it worth the 40 bucks
My test-fit of this kit met the expectations I've come to expect from Tamiya; high-quality, with almost seamless joints and extra details wherever possible. But this "Tony" has one step even better than any other kit I've ever seen. They included two left-halves of the fuselage; one in normal plastic and another identical part molded in clear plastic, so you can make your own 3-D "cutaway" display of the fighter. The kit as-is has plenty of detail visible with the see-through fuselage, but if you wanted to go the extra mile and research some finer details (like control cables) you could probably make a museum display with this kit using little more than scrap wiring or thread. I am, however, worried about what glue to use that won't fog up the clear plastic where it meets the "normal" ... This is a standart Tamiya 1/48 scale new release - good detail in the cockpit and wheel wells, straightforward parts, breakdown with control surfaces, molded with the wings and tailplanes, beautifully restrained surface textures and perfect fit. Two markings options are provided in the decal. The instruction is detailed and understandable. Excellent model for a great price.
