About this product

Product Information

Split/Second is a sports car racing game with realistic automobile models, arcade-style action, and destructible environments engineered for massive man-made disaster. Players become contestants in a fictional reality television show that takes speed and violence to new extremes. Races are run in urban and industrial areas constructed especially for the TV show, where buildings, towers, bridges, and other structures are rigged with high-powered explosives. As competitors race around the track, they each gradually fill up a "Powerplay" meter. When full, this meter enables the racer to set off one of the explosive charges. The Powerplay meter fills more quickly as the player performs tricky jumps or squeezes through tight spaces, so precision driving is at a premium, despite the chaotic nature of the courses. The destruction of structures also calls for finesse, as it's in the racer's best interest to use timing and tactics to cause as much obstruction and damage to opponents as possible. <br><br>As racers speed around the track, the game's interface highlights structures ahead that could be triggered for destruction, as well as the cars that would probably be affected if they fell. In many places, destroying a building opens up a new shortcut as it blocks the old road. Mastering the driving skills to keep on a controlled line around each track is the key to victory, but players also need quick "split-second" reaction times when another racer unleashes a destructive blast that alters the entire course in front of them. In addition to destroying buildings that tumble across the track, some courses offer racers the opportunity to trigger more unusual disasters, such as a jumbo jet that can be called down to crash-land in the middle of the roadway. Split/Second was created by veteran racing game designers at Black Rock Studio, formerly a part of the Climax Group and developer of games in the MotoGP and ATV series.

I use a shipping rate for Canada which is the same price no matter which game you buy. The Nintendo DS game that you bought happens to be extremely light.For 95%+ of the games, the shipping price makes sense.However, some games are heavier and some games are lighter than the average - so there is an aspect of fluctuation that I account for. But you're right about the total price, that's what matters, I also currently have "Best Offer" on - so you can always make an offer to get a better price.

    PLEASE RELEASE “SPLIT SECOND 2”!!!

    This game is one of the funnest, challenging and visually spectacular racing games I’ve ever played! As a 52 year old gamer, let me just say, I’ve played almost ALL of them too! Seriously, it’s one of the reasons why I purchased the xBox One X because I missed this game so much after going from xBox 360 to PS4 several years ago this game is backwards compatible on the xBox... and NOT PS4! Visually breathtaking and stunning, while the game does get repetitive, it never gets old blowing up mountain sides, giant towers and buildings to collapse on your opposition! NEVER! My only complaint is WHY DID THEY CANCEL THE NEXT “SEASON” or part 2 of this game!? The following, and demand for the next addition to this game, is so big it seems very odd that they haven’t brought it back to the ...

    Destructive mayhem, addictive!! Excellent replay value, excellent handling drifter car game

    This game is beyond excellent! I lost my older copy and bought this to replace it; high replay value! Destroy rivals via setting Power Plays/traps on the track, awesome drifter car game w/out the awful handling/steering that many other racing games (such as the Need for Speed series) suffer from. Made by Disney~! But explosive, destructive mayhem that just has fantastic- and fast!- playability Addictive!

    Split Second Xbox 360 great fun, but not to serious.

    Once you get past all the hype and the continuing argument I see all across the web about this game or that game not being 'sim like' or 'semi-sim like',and if you like arcade games like Need For Speed, Burnout. Your going to like Split Second for what it is, not what it isn't. It's just some down right fun racing and blowing stuff up with great detail! Not going to get into the complete details of this game as it's been out for awhile and if you are reading this I am more than sure you know the sorted details of gameplay. I got this at a great price used and am very happy with what it is. Split Second never takes itself too serious, it's all about blasting down the road and blasting your opponents. I have to agree with others about the AI vehicles speeding past you using the same car ...

    One of the best racers in a long time!

    The last racing game that I really enjoyed was Need For Speed Underground. I've played all the other need for speeds including the new hot pursuit, and with the exception of Most Wanted, haven't really been impressed. I've played Juiced, Blur, Forza, Gran Turismo and almost every other racing game out there right now and got pretty bored fairly quick. So I was a little skeptical when I heard about this game. I downloaded the demo off Live Marketplace though, and I gotta say...I was instantly hooked. This game will keep you on the edge of your seat through almost every race. If any racing game has ever deserved an "OH SH*T!!" handle just for when you're playing it, its this game.
