    Running With the Giants by John C. Maxwell (2002)

    I love the way this author writes. He writes so the scriptures in the Old Testament and the people there are so real and interesting. I do not want to put this book down. It is historical, plus has great understanding of the people from these days of long ago. He has a way of relating to we people today and it is a great discussion builder for a prayer group or study group. I use it in my study with other Women. It would work with men as well.

    One of his best books

    Running with the Giants takes ten Biblical Giants from the "cloud of witnesses," each one running a lap with you in your race of life. They share the essence of their life, what they experienced and learned from it, giving you a chance to apply those lessons in your own life. My KCs council will be using it as a prayer group/Bible study lesson plan this fall.

    A must have for any leadership training

    This book is different than most of his books. It is written as though you are sitting in a stadium or arena, not unlike a Promise Keepers event, and the people come down and speak. I am currently reading it and it is amazing what he draws from. He picks people from the old testament and shows you their leadership qualities. Again, this book is a short book. 136 pages. Its a great quick read. My suggestion, and this is only my suggestion. Scan the book first. Do the Highlighting. Then go back and start chewing on it. really dig in. At the end of each chapter are questions. They are thought provoking and mind stretching. If you get the chance to read it, or someone is doing a group using this book, get in it. I promise you, you will not regret it.

    Really good book.... but

    I bought this book for a book study group. I really love that its an easy read, with every chapter I glimpse the struggle and success of the men & women of faith who have gone before us. Very inspiring. I dislike that it doesn't go into a more in depth study of each of the characters. Most of the time when I'm done with a chapter I am left with wanting to have a better understanding of the person I just read about... although I guess thats why we have the Bible to study to our hearts content. Overall I recommend this book to others. Very good book!
