Owning a Roomba
I've had one of these for years, the one I started with needed a battery but I didn't know it. I bought this one on Ebay and bought a new battery when a friend of mine told me it had a dead cell. Now I have both of them, If you own a pet you need a Roomba, it picks up all the hair and things a dog tracks in without you lifting a finger. Wonderful machine.

Great time saver but has a few glitches irobot should have fixed by now.
Great time saver. It doesn't do great on pet hair. Pet hair wraps around the brushes and needs to be cleaned often BY HAND. It does do well if no pet hair is involved though. One other problem, it has a problem with black carpet and floor vents, the cliff sensors that protect it from falling down stairs sees the black carpet and vents as a drop off and freaks out. We have a large area rug with black outlines and if roomba manages to make it on this carpet it wont make it off (does a little dance of confusion, poor guy). Overall it is nice to let loose in large areas. We have a lot of wood floors and area rugs and it does a good job under the beds and on these large areas. Definitely look at getting a roomba with a scheduler. The scheduler is well worth the extra 20 to 60 bucks on ... Great time saver. It doesn't do great on pet hair. Does a really good job of cleaning the dust and dirt from the floor. It does sometimes get past the virtual walls and then gets lost in the house. Sometimes it cannot find its way back to its base unit. That said, it does the vacuuming while we are out shopping! Awesome!!!!! You have to clean the Roomba after every use but it is VERY WELL built and this does not take very long. You should do this with your regular vacuum as well. I really like this product as it is MUCH nicer than doing the work yourself. I would buy this unit again. I would give it a solid 8.5 out of 10. Only because it has trouble finding its way back to its base,(I may try and relocate the base unit as I do have a table and chairs that may be in the way and causing the problem so it could be me. It does a fair job vacuuming the house when my back is too sore to do it.
This is the second Roomba I have owned . I had a first generation one which gave up the ghost years ago. I have a big house and a lot of vacuuming for the little guy to do. This Roomba is a big improvement compared to the one I had before. I like that it does not suck up fringe on the rugs I have. It still needs to learn how to navigate a bit better, as it gets hung up on the door sill of my sliding glass door in the dining room. I wish it had a bigger cup , because I have to empty it before it is done cleaning the house. It does a good job sucking up dog hair, but the brush cage has to be cleaned out too frequently. I would prefer a robot that does not go in circles, by going in circles it takes too long to clean the room ,and goes over the same area multiple times. I have not used the ... Pretty good job of cleaning
The roomba 550 does a pretty good job of cleaning your carpet or bare floor. It doesn't deep clean a carpet like a big vacuum but if you use it everyday the dirt doesn't get down deep in your carpet so you don't need to deep clean it. If you have several chairs and tables, the roomba has to fight it's way through them time after time. When it has to fight through 3 or 4 chairs and a couple of tables, the battery will only last long enough to do one large room. If you run your big vacuum a couple of times, say morning and then evening, then start using the roomba it will keep your carpet clean. Over all it does a pretty good job, I am disabled so it helps a lot. Clean it after every use, this is easy to do.
