In the interest of full disclosure, let me state I've always been a fan of this band in all its incarcerations. I'm able to chronicle the major events of my life with their catalog of music and every time I hear one of their tunes those memories instantly play in my mind. For me, the band's music has never failed to uplift my spirits and I have nothing but positive feelings about them. The addition of Buckiingham-Nicks to the lineup created one of the most prolific and successful groups in the industry, in my humble opinion. Their sound is distinctive and compelling and their list of hits bears this out. Few bands can survive the the pitfalls and pressure of being major performers with all the personal and professional highs and crushing lows and reunite on stage with ... In the interest of full disclosure, let me state I've always been a fan of this band in all its incarcerations. I'm able to chronicle the major events of my life with their catalog of music and every time I hear one of their tunes those memories instantly play in my mind. For me, the band's music has never failed to uplift my spirits and I have nothing but positive feelings about them. The addition of Buckiingham-Nicks to the lineup created one of the most prolific and successful groups in the industry, in my humble opinion. Their sound is distinctive and compelling and their list of hits bears this out. Few bands can survive the the pitfalls and pressure of being major performers with all the personal and professional highs and crushing lows and reunite on stage with the energy and charisma of these musicians during this concert. Was it perfect? Not entirely, but what is? First, the production value is second to none for a live performance: 5.1 sound on this DVD was as clean and crisp as any studio recording, in my opinion; the images were first-rate, sharp, smooth, and well saturated; the editing was a little on the machine-gun side for me, a few longer tracking shots, pans, and slower zooms in and out would have been a pleasant counter-point to all the jump-cuts, but I won't quibble that the director captured the intensity of the show. Second, the band seemed to really enjoy their time on stage and the audience responded in kind. Sure, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks were the stars of the show and most of the coverage focuses on them, although Mick Fleetwood got his solo near the end. In truth, I didn't enjoy his moment as well, and Christine McVie's absence is a a real shame, but still, I wish I'd been there. However, this recording was the second best alternative. Perhaps even better, as I could never afford seats that gave me that kind of view. Finally,if you like the band, this package offers you a couple of hours of top-notch professionals during a terrific show on DVD, and a bonus CD of a few select tunes from that show. For my money, it was a no-brainer investment.
