For a previoiusly owned product, all the features (VCR,DVD,Tracking, etc,) were all functioning like new. The TV images were great . DVD had component as it TV input apart from the VCR A/V TV input. The DVD component input is most definitely a plus factor in terms of resolution. I have not tried out the VCR recording function ,as at this time, is not a priority for me. I wish though that it had a VCR to DVD conversion capability. That would have been awsome.

The VCR portion of this system never worked. That the reason I purchased it, to replace an exact system that the VCR section quit working. The first unit lasted us over 8 years, but this one, the VCR did not work at all. The DVD did work perfectly.

I bought a new model. I hardly use VHS, but the VCR part quit before the DVD part which I use a lot. It is good that it has both front & back inputs for AV cables of composite, but the front stopped working. It says it has coaxial input, but it is actually something else. So for really old VCRs, you will have to use dub mode.I do not like dub, because you have no control. You select the point to start at & you hit stop when done. There is no pause on dub, so you can't take out commercials. The fact that it even requires you to need a separate unit (whether cause the VCR broke or to skip commercials) is a big negative factor. I do like that you can pick thumbnails for each title you record to DVD, but it tends to jump & put another frame. I really didn't like that you can't edit titles to make your own chapters once recorded, or edit out spots. It is supposed to work on some discs they recommend, but DIDN'T work at all. You can select the time frame for preprogrammed chapters though. The remote is nice. It's somewhat big, but not heavy. The buttons are configured well. Play has a piece on it so you can feel it is different than stop. It might seem convenient to have a 2 in one unit, but it is pretty big, when you factor how conveniently small DVD players, other DVD recorders, and even some VCRs are. I will never buy a Magnavox again, because I feel over all there were so many negatives & let downs about this model.Read full review

The Magnavox DV220MW9 DVD/VHS Combo Player gives the BEST VHS picture I've ever seen from a VHS, and the WORST DVD performance from any DVD player I've ever owned. After trying very expensive top-end DVD players, I found that this DVD player provides a better picture than the best of the best. However, the DVD is useless. It introduces a high-pitched squeaky wine sound, and falters at the slightest irregularity on a DVD. I still have a large VHS collection including many releases only available on VHS. This is the player that gets the most and the best out of those tapes. Like any VHS player, keep the heads clean! If you want a great DVD/BluRay player, get a Panasonic.
The VCR is easy to use. The picture quality is great. I have a big collection of old VCR tapes plus some DVD's . I look forward to viewing them again.

This is just what I wanted. Replaced one that I had had for years that the VCR part had quit working on. There was no remote but the one I had works perfectly with it.

This is a good product. Its volume isn't as loud as my old one, but it is plenty loud for everyone to hear. I was notified before I received the VCR/DVD player that the remote was accidentally left out of the box and it would be coming a day or two later. It did! I am happy with this product purchase and am enjoying my VCR and DVD movies again!

The Magnavox DV220MW9 Combo is cosmetically in fine condition and is playing DVDs and VHS tapes with good quality video and audio. It is in good working order for a used A/V Combo device.

I'm in poor health, not very mobile, and have to spend a lot of time alone. I wanted to get a new DVD player so I could watch my movies without going to another room where the home entertainment system is set up. I bought one from a retail store and when I unpacked it, discovered it was broken. While looking for a replacement, I came across this Magnavox combo and the price was so low I decided to buy it. It works perfectly and makes it so easy to watch DVDs or VHS tapes without the bother of two machines and a rat's nest of wire connections. It looks trim and tidy under the flat screen TV, the button functions are easy to read and the remote is user friendly. I've used it constantly; I have trouble sleeping and frequently watch at least one DVD and one VHS tape per night--and I'm almost afraid I'll jinx it by saying it performs just as it claims it will. My best endorsement is that I ordered two more, one as a gift and the other for another TV here in my house. Incredible value for the price and so easy to hook up and set up.Read full review
