these locks have a central "pin" which controls a gear which works the lock. Until you take the thing apart, one does not understand the mechanism WHICH IS GEARED TO FAIL. No mention of the sensitivity of the pin in the directions. Also it has become clear that if I had been told of the pin in the previous lock, it would still be on the door. kk
