    Good paperweight.

    It uses a SAS cable so I wasn't able to use it. I didn't even know hard drives using anything but SATA existed so I wouldn't have thought to look and make sure it was a SATA hard drive. Just leaving this review so I don't kept getting emailed to review it. It weighs down on paper pretty good. I can't comment on its intentional use.

    Great. However, please be aware of if you buy a used SAS drives on Ebay they are not likely the standard 512 byte sector size (e.g., 520 bytes). You will have to do a low-level disk format (not just a partition/filesystem format) to get them to work on standard hardware / software. There are plenty of guides out there that walk you through it if you are comfortable with a Linux terminal.

    easy to re-format to 512 bytes

    What a great deal ! We ordered total of 20 of these 4TB drives to upgrade our servers from SATA-3 to SAS-2. 520 bytes/sector is easy to re-format with Linux Mint live-usb and sg3-utils: sudo sg_format --format --size=512 --fmtpinfo=0 /dev/sg0 ( sg1...sg7 )

    Got it yesterday and was on line in no time!

    I got one to see if it would work in my MD1000 with an H800 controller card and it does ordering 15 more to fill the bank up !! Hard to find large drives that will work in the older hardware
