In today's day & times, it is worth watching.

It has long been a science fiction advocate requirement. I saw it many years ago. My wife has never seen it. It was worth watching.

    Unattractive men in this film.

I thought that this movie would be fun to watch. I WAS WRONG. Then in this film are so unattractive. But the cost and value of this dvd is good

  • 50 years later.....

Well, it's now 2022 - 50 years after this movie was made, and the events in this movie were supposed to happening NOW. And virtually NONE of it has come to pass. If anything, everything has only gotten better, ecologically. I remember seeing this in a theatre in Baltimore when I was fifteen, and back then I didn't understand the political sub-plot. It strays far from the Harry Harrison book "Make Room! Make Room!" but effectively combines the elements of sci-fi futurism with those of a detective story (like "Blade Runner"). The bottom line is - people were screaming about overpopulation and climate change half a century ago. They were proved wrong. "Things in this life change very slowly, if they ever change at all." - Eagles, "The Sad Cafe"

  • Time for this classic to be remade - but who could replace Heston?

This movie really does show its age, but its relevence and outright disturbing commentaries on society deserve to be revisited. Charleton Heston plays yet another role which he, predictably, overplays, but that is what he does best and I, for one, can't get enough of it! Anyone cast into this character's role should do likewise and if he wasn't cast for this spot, it most certainly would not have had the impact on audiences that it did, and, in fact, would probably have never made it onto celluloid at all. More of a horror movie than a Sci-fi thriller, you must excuse me for the overuse of the expression "disturbing", but there really is no better word to describe the plot, subplots, and commentaries contained within Soylent Green's storyline. If you ...

  • Futuristic, but maybe not so far fetched !

One of Heston"s best movies. Always liked his acting quality. Story is science fiction, but kind of looks into what could be our future...
