    Sweet Dreams (DVD, 1999)

    This is a biographical look at the life of Patsy Cline (Jessica Lange), one of America's most beloved singers of the 1950's. Her professional singing career was meteoric but her personal life off stage was very different. She had a voice that could turn a simple love song into something that could give you chills down your spine, but just like so many women of that time, she struggled with a troubled marriage, with a violent and abusive husband, Charlie Dick (Ed Harris). While Lange and Harris were both superbly cast for these parts, so was Patsy's mother, Ann Wedgworth, who superbly portrays the solid-core Southern woman whom Patsy is emotionally dependent upon.     Pasty died when I was ten years old...I don't remember it at the time, but have loved her voice and music forever. This movie is a quick look into her life and struggles.
