Perfect title for the songs in this album
I'm a big fan of Johnny Mathis and have tried to see him whenever he's in the Los Angeles, California area. I have collected his albums and now CD's and I'm trying to collect as many as possible, hopefully all of them. I was drawn by the title because I remember my mother singing some of these songs when I was a little girl. She sang them all the time that I too learned them. Duke Ellington was one of the names that I remembered from conversations with one of my uncles. So, I had to purchase this album because of the sentimental jouney and my favorite all time singer. It didn't disappoint me. When you hear Johnny Mathis sing and hit those wonderfully high notes that only he can do, well, it's as though you're hearing him in person singing just to ... I love Johnny and I love the Duke so getting this CD was a no brainer. Every song was beautifully done. I wanted to listen to it over and over again. This one is a treasure for my collection of Mathis and Ellington. The Duke would be thrilled at what Johnny has brought to his work. What can I say? I am hooked on Johnny Mathis and have been since the age of 15. This release is pure magic for me. Mathis, Ellington? It delivers! Really, does anyone expect less from the romantic voice of "silk?"
