A thread adapter will be needed if installed on a removable valve installation as is common on modern Airstreams. However, the working part of the valve, the inner plunger, can be removed to restore an existing valve.

I messaged the seller and she got back to me promptly about returning the thermostat and before I even had it packaged and sent back and new one was sitting on my porch. Package received no signs of damage or mishandled by carrier. Shipping via USPS proved to be a different story as the package traveled only 525 miles it took nearly 2 weeks not the fault of the seller they were very cooperative and willing to go above and beyond ready to send a replacement for the one ordered. The package was stranded in two different distribution centers and set there.
