Produced by Quincy Jones, these soulful jazz-funk gems feature an array of music legends including: Ray Brown, Victor Feldman, Eddie Harris, Milt Jackson, Les McCann, Joe Sample, Jimmy Smith and many others. Also featured is the Cos Man himself in some classic mumble-scatting on the show's theme song "Hikky Burr". This is hands down one of the most amazing collections of rare instrumental jazz-funk recordings.

    Enjoyed The Early Music From Q ......Quincy Jones!

    Good CD if you enjoy Jazz or need to listen to some relaxing music. Great list of musicians who are some of the best at their craft. I wasn't a big fan of the Hikki-Burr 2 & 3 tracks but the all musical version (Hikki-Burr alone) is really nice. The musical genius of Quincy Jones never ceases to amaze me and just think this 'music' was composed 30 years before 'Thriller'.

    The Q plus Bill Cosby in an All Star session gem

    I've decided to buy this cd because I remembered the theme song "Hikky-Burr" from Bill Cosby Show. The album is very good even if you don't find the original song here. Anyway, it's an All Star session in which Mr. Q conducted a very good groovin' jam with the help of Milt Jackson, Jimmy Smith, Ray Brown, Arthur Adams, Paul Humphrey and many more! At that time it was not intended to be published, infact you can hear someone saying "take 1", "take 27" and so on. Nowadays all is reissued (or issued for the first time) but this album worths, being jazz funky at his best. Mr. Cosby is scattin' and hummin' on track 10 "Hikky-Burr" and there's also a bonus "Hikky-Burr (Mix Master Mike remix)" taken from the ...
