Rare IHC Sunbeam Cars
Incredible find. I have all 8 cars and an extra 9th "Coach" car. ONLY DRAWBACK... The axles on these cars are adjustable width, so they need individual tweaking to make them track well. The wheels are, in fact, 28" wheel sets. So 36" wheel replacements will rub the brakes. Some modelers have successfully used 32" metal wheel sets for lightning. Long out of production. When you see them, get them, or wish you had. There is a VERY rare 4-6-2 Pacific with the "Sunbeam" markings also from IHC. PT# M9862. There are 3 versions of this engine. The 2 "Daylight" paint, 1st original (which I have) has the sun-ball logo facing forward on both sides, where the 2nd "Daylight" paint re-run issue has the left-side sun-ball logo on both sides, making the right side backwards. The SP "Combo Baggage/Coach" was not available in the smooth side cars built latter, but was latter used on the "San Joaquin Daylight" that had smooth sides except this one "Sunbeam" car with corrugated sides. These are among my very favorite cars. Second only to my "Roundhouse" Daylight 5 piece 50' passenger set with matching 2-6-0 Daylight engine. Very Nice Set! Do Not Hesitate!
