Fans call it Single Mom Rock! Kami Nixon is a classically trained flute player who picked up a guitar and jumped into rock and roll. She's a former journalist who documents through songs her life as a single mom coming of age. The music is fun at turns, sexy in places, heartbreaking at the peaks, and always great rock and roll. Kami, a young woman raised in America's Southwest, is bursting onto the Bay Area music scene, playing with San Francisco legend Bill Spooner, of the Folk-ups and the Tubes fame. Her songs rip with Spooner's solos and drip with wacky touches that long-time fans of his will recognize. The falsetto at the end of Boys named Jon? That's Spooner's idea and Kami's voice doing several parts. The desperate rap at the end of Gin & Tonic that you can only hear if you listen all the way with the volume up? Again, Spooner's directive and Kami's on-the-spot vamping. Keep coming back for more info. A deejay in Belgium is hot on Kami's trail and momentum is building. She's booking show dates at the same time she's already back in the studio working on a full length project. It's getting hotter and hotter!!!
