This Canon EF IS USM is an ideal telephoto lens for wildlife and sports photography. This is a heavy lens with a metal mount and barrel weighing 11.82 lbs, a length of 15.95-inches and a diameter of 6.61-inches. The beauty of this telephoto 600 mm f/4.0 lens is the sharp images it produces. With an image stabilizer, this lens offers steady images even with slow shutter speeds. This Canon EF IS USM has 17 elements in 13 groups including one fluorite element and two UD-glass elements providing quality photographs. Additionally, the Canon telephoto camera lens has an internal focus, offers auto focus and full-time manual focus. With internal focus, the Canon EF IS USM never changes length offering a balance lens, necessary when dealing with larger telephoto lenses. This Canon telephoto camera lens has incredibly fast auto focusing to capture shots of subjects on the move, and includes resistance to dust and moisture so one can take it out into world. This 600 mm f/4.0 lens is optimized for the long distance shot, due not only to the image stabilizing, but also to the dual-axis camera shake correction.

    Best Lens I've Ever Used

    I've used many Canon lenses in my life. This is truly the best lens, Canon or not, that I've ever used in my life. The IQ is excellent when the lens is used by itself or with a 1.4x or 2x Canon Tele-converter. The colors that are rendered digitally are amazing. You'll read that you can't hand hold this 13lb lens but I disagree. I have taken some amazing photos hand holding this lens. Why buy a car when you can buy a lens for the same price.

    Oh Mama

    Big, heavy, and unwieldy. Not really usable for most occasions. Absolutely need support. IS is not as effective as seen in shorter lenses. A 400mm f2.8 with a 1.4 teleconverter would probably be more useful. However, it does do what it does beautifully, and is a keeper.

    I love this lens, just it’s heavy. After few hours walking with it you will want to consider the weight in these lenses next time.

    Canon 400mm f/4.0

    This is a fantastic lens for the appropriate application. Surfing shots or sports in general. It does weigh more than one may exspect and I would rec the appropriate monopod. I purchased the Manfrotto. You will also need an adapter for the attachment to the lens base. RB
