Good followup to Songs About Jane

A pretty good album, nice variety. Not as rock and acoustic-based as Songs About Jane. Nice album - not as good as Songs About Jane, but one of their better albums overall.

  • over produced but solid

This album doesn't come close to "Songs about Jane." The new disc is washed, scrubbed and polished to the point where you just want to hear some raw emotion out of Levine's voce but you never do. But instead what you do get is smartly written, swarmy pop gems that is still better than most of anything else on the radio these days. All over the disc you get snippets of other artists that have influenced them and that mostly comes from the 80's. You get a Prince tune: "Kiwi," with its metaphorical lyrics, "Goodnight Goodnight," which sounds as if it fell out of Stevie Wonder's amazing songbook and the stunning "Better that we Break." Maroon 5's a great band, but here it seems as if they are going after a new audience while trying to sustain their old but without branching out as artists. ...

  • maroon 5 i would buy it again

i really liked the songs about jane cd and could not wait for this one. it is definately not like songs about jane. it is different all together. it is very good and i do recommend it. the music is hard to describe. the first half of the cd is fast paced. the second half is more slow and soft. i think the fist half of the cd has a bit of techno in it. the genre is alternative and i think that is appropriate because every song is different and there really is nothing like it on the radio. you have to listen to it several times and then you will love it as much as the last cd they put out. i think the music is hard to describe but you will like it and it grows on you each time you listen to it. i love the change that they bring to this cd, that they didnt play it safe and stay with ...

  • One heck of a comeback!!

Since their first album of "Songs about Jane"(2002), they toured and were in the writing and reordering process for over five years. Now their sound which have a hint of overproduction is actually a exceptional sound. Each song sounds like a continuation of a 80s movie, streaming 80s pop with electric funk. My favorites "if i never see your face again", "makes me wonder"(michael jackson sound), "little of your time", "wake up call", "won't go home without you", and "nothing last forever" which attributes from the verses of Kanye West's "Heard Em' Say". It's altogether a really good album and urge anyone to buy it, but it takes awhile for die hard fans to get use to the sound.

  • Absolutely No Songs About Jane

So they're a pop band...some even call them a "boy band". But, so what as long as they play good music? Judging a book by its cover was never the best way to draw a conclusion. Musically speaking, this record is way much better than "Songs About Jane" in my opinion. It is clear that songs are now arranged and played in a more careful and sophisticated way. My picks are: "Nothing Lasts Forever", "Can't Stop", "Not Falling Apart" and "Back at Your Door". My guess is that if you hear at least these four tracks, you will notice a better and more mature Maroon 5, going to the right way and making their evolution.
